georgia tech riots

I am one to follow up with a tweet, so when I heard that the Georgia Tech riot had been a bigger story than I thought, I did a follow up tweet. The tweet garnered over 150 tweets in a matter of minutes, which is more than I usually get for a single tweet.

The Georgia Tech riot was one of those events that was a bit overhyped. It was one of those events that was completely predictable in hindsight, but that nonetheless felt very much like a part of our regular everyday life. This was a university town that has seen more than its share of protests in the last several years, as well as one that was already experiencing protests in the years prior. So when it finally happened here, it was very predictable, but still jarring.

The riot has been going on for about a month, and the fact that it’s being blamed on the police is not surprising, since that’s the first thing you would think to happen in any large scale protest. It was likely, though, that something more dangerous was going on than a few people getting a little too rowdy. This has been a week of mass protests, with a lot of the people in the crowd feeling that they were not part of the protests.

It’s like they were taking a group of people and putting them in a room with no furniture and just telling them to fight each other. There is no real reason that they could’ve done that to them all, except that they didn’t want to cause a fire. Fire is generally a bad thing, obviously, but there are reasons to be afraid of it, and it could’ve easily just been a few people getting together to fight each other.

This doesn’t mean that people shouldnt protest, it just means that they shouldnt be so loud. At least not in the first place.

As a matter of fact, that “no reason to be afraid” argument is one of the most common ones in the protest movement, and it’s one that we’ve been repeating as well. Protesting in general is a bad idea, because it’s generally a waste of time. This is especially true of protest about anything that is “politically incorrect.” Protest is a surefire way to get yourself and your friends or family in trouble. Just by talking is the best way to go.

Protesting about being gay or transgender is a perfect example of this. There is no way to protest when there is no need to. Gay or transgender people are already a part of the communities they are protesting about, and we should be happy that they are there. Protesting about being gay or transgender is also a good way to get in trouble. The people protesting about gay rights are just being homophobic themselves.

Protesting about being gay or transgender is a great way to get in trouble. There is no way to protest when there is no need to. The reason to protest about being gay or transgender is because it is a part of their identities. We as a society have been trying to make it so that everyone is happy with who they are, but there is clearly a lot of inequality in our society, and that inequality is due to the fact that people’s identities are in question.

Wow! I can't believe we finally got to meet in person. You probably remember me from class or an event, and that's why this profile is so interesting - it traces my journey from student-athlete at the University of California Davis into a successful entrepreneur with multiple ventures under her belt by age 25
