brooklyn tech wifi is one of the coolest tech companies in the city. They’ve been around since 2001 and have grown over the years to include a team of over 150 employees.
They are actually a subsidiary of Verizon Wireless, which uses their wireless network for the same purpose.
Verizon Wireless is one of the leaders in broadband deployment in the US, but the company has also set its sights on the city’s burgeoning tech community. The company is building a network of more than 150,000 WiFi hotspots within the city of Brooklyn, and also has plans to provide WiFi to tens of thousands of people at the Brooklyn Tech Fair.
Verizon is also the parent company of the recently acquired wireless network company, Cricket Wireless, which now holds a 25% stake in the wireless provider. Cricket Wireless has plans to make broadband available in the citys new internet-connected subway stations.
